Wild Durango is about passion.
Passion for the outdoors and commitment to the preservation and protection of this land.
At its core, the wilderness is a place of beauty and adventure. It is also a place of responsibility. As a visitor to this wild and wonderful place, it is important to remember to respect the environment, wildlife, and other visitors. This website is dedicated to providing information and tips on how to properly practice wilderness etiquette.
When visiting the wilderness, the most important thing to remember is to leave no trace. This means that whatever you bring into the wilderness, you should take out with you. This includes any trash, food scraps, and other items you bring in. Also, be careful not to disturb any wildlife or plants. In addition, it is important to be respectful of other visitors. Keep noise to a minimum and be courteous of other people's space. If you encounter someone else in the wilderness, it is polite to greet them with a friendly smile and a wave.
A little about our guides.
Our guides have years of experience and knowledge about the local topography.
Hello, I'm Richie! Born and raised in this area, I have a deep connection to this land. I love mountain lakes, good food, fishing and of course backpacking! Waking up with a cup of coffee and a high alpine sunrise with friends is about as good as it gets. Im looking forward to taking you on backcountry adventure!
Hi! My name is Matt. Before we started Wild Durango, I was a fly fishing guide for many years in Durango, I also went to college in this beautiful town. I love nothing more than spending my time in the mountains and rivers that surround us here in the southwest! I am a big believer in the idea that wilderness spaces have a positive affect on all of us, and in those spaces changes can happen, and healing can begin.
I'm Dana Connor with Rogue Wellness Counseling, LLC and I am one of your mental health guides. I've dedicated my life to supportive human connection and I believe that a basic human need is to have loving relationships with self, with others, & with the planet. I understand that the experience of society & its structures are not always supportive of this. That's why I'm always trying to find new ways to support clients in coming back to themselves. Being in nature is one of the most profound ways to do this.
A look at the San Juans.
